The Wangui Project
This class is designed for the new comer to African movement. It will give you foundation in the basics of how to find the posture, the stance and the elemental and essential movements of the arms and legs within the drum rhythm. WaNgui dance style was born in Senegal by a group of Senegalese dancers organized by Anna Clark. It is based on traditional Senegalese style Sabar dancing. Sabar is a style unique to its country, though widely celebrated down the west coast of Africa for its originality amongst other styles of the better known 'Djembe dance'. If you've ever been curious how they move so wild and beautiful in the motherland, this is the class to start exploring it.
